Consumer & Personal Projects
Thoughtful marking and fabrication for personal items, gifts, and one-off projects—handled with the same care, verification, and accountability we apply to industrial work.
From everyday carry and heirloom tools to custom gifts and mixed-material pieces, we focus on work meant to be used, kept, and remembered, not mass-produced or disposable.
Personal & Custom Projects
We support a wide range of bench-scale projects, including—but not limited to:
-
Everyday Carry & Personal Gear: Gun parts, knives, multi-tools, flashlights, metal carry items, and accessories.
-
Professional & Personal Tools: Individual tool kits, specialty equipment, and personal work gear.
-
Gifts & Commemorative Pieces: Groomsmen items, flasks, cufflinks, cutting boards, keepsakes, and custom gift projects.
-
Legacy & Heirloom Items: Pieces intended to be passed down, where permanence and restraint matter.
-
Mixed-Material & Organic Projects: Work involving wood, leather, acrylics, glass, foam, and metal—where material choice and process are matched intentionally to the object.
If it fits the bench and can be done responsibly, it’s worth the conversation.
How We Approach Personal Work
We do not offer novelty engraving or impulse personalization.
Every personal project is evaluated for:
-
Material suitability
-
Long-term durability
-
Layout clarity and scale
-
Risk to the item
Custom artwork, illustration, or layout development is handled deliberately and quoted separately when required. Decorative work is welcome when it serves the piece—not when it overwhelms it.
Sourced Materials & Blanks
For projects requiring specific items—such as corporate gifts or wedding parties—we provide a curated selection of stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and leather goods sourced from vetted suppliers. We handle the procurement to ensure the material integrity meets our marking standards.
Why we source for you
-
Verification: We only source materials we have tested for laser-material interaction.
-
Logistics: We manage shipping and quality control of the blanks before they reach the laser bed.
-
Consistency: Sourcing through Cross Caliber ensures a uniform finish across the entire batch.
Expectations & Limits

To maintain shop standards and protect customer property, all personal projects follow these guidelines:
-
Material Verification: Materials are reviewed before work begins to ensure compatibility with the appropriate laser process.
-
Minimum Shop Fee: A minimum shop rate applies to all projects to cover setup, verification, and calibration.
-
Design Review: Artwork may be supplied by the customer or developed collaboratively. Technical preparation or conversion fees may apply depending on complexity.
-
Responsible Scope: We decline work that cannot be executed cleanly, safely, or with confidence—regardless of project type.
Saying “no” is part of doing the work right.
